Amber Scrimshaw
This is the next Scrimshaw, the piece of Mammoth Ivory is 64 grams it is 105mm wide and 95mm high I will do the scrimshaw on the inside curve as it is the best surface. This is our Staffy Pup at about three months.
Step 1 – 07/08/19
I must confess to cheating on the background on this one. I didn’t like the background in the picture but I did like the carpet in my workshop, so I printed out the body of Amber and superimposed her onto the picture of my carpet.
Step 2 – 15/06/19
Picture of Amber superimposed onto a picture of the carpet.
Step 3 – 07/08/19
First I attached the picture of Amber to the ivory and cut out around it. I’ll add the carpet pattern onto the Ivory next.
Step 4 – 10/08/19
This is the start of the carpet on the scrimshawed background, next, I will finish the carpet.
Step 5 – 15/08/19
This is the finished background carpet. Next, I’ll start on Amber.
Step 6- 20/08/19
This is the start of Amber’s body.
Step 7- 28/08/19
Here’s the finished scrimshaw.
Base/Stand
Now for the base. This one will be done in Rose Wood with a Mammoth Ivory nameplate.
Step 1-
This is a nice piece of Rose Wood I’ll use for the base.
Step 2-
The base cut out with a band saw.
Step 3-
This is the base cut out and ready to file and sand.
The End.
