Tiger Scrimshaw – "Kool Kat"

This picture will be a nice easy one, (so I think). The Ivory is a nice piece of Fossil Walrus artifact; it weighs 314 grams and measures 195mm x 55mm. It is an artifact of fossil Walrus ivory that was fashioned by the Inuit into a useful tool, a net fishing weight.

Step 1- 25/10/2019

Mammoth ivory in its raw state; It’s time to start.

Step 2- 26 /10/2019

This time I’m trying the acetone transfer directly onto the ivory, this is the first time I’ve done this, as I usually only use acetone transfer for the nameplate. The transfer has turned out a bit rough only time will tell if it is worth doing.

Step 3- 9/11/2019

The black areas of the Tiger are finished.

Step 4- 20/11/2019

I have now finished the background.

Step 5- 25/11/2019

I have now finished the Tiger

Next, I will do the Base/Stand

Step 6- 25/12/2019

I have made the base out of a piece of wood I found in my Pizza oven woodpile, Bloodwood? This wood is a strong pink, good enough to eat.

Step 7- 31/12/2019

The finished piece toped off with a nameplate made from Mammoth ivory.

The End.
