Orca Scrimshaw – “Orca”

The next scrimshaw will be this Orca on the prowl. The Mammoth Bark Ivory weighs 30 grams and is 8cm wide x 9cm high.
Step 1 – 6/11/20
This picture shows the ivory sanded, polished, and ready to have the picture attached.

The picture is attached to the ivory ready for the outline to be cut out.

Step 3 – 8/11/20
This is the ivory with the outline etched, black areas added and the background filled in. Next I’ll add the foreground.

Step 4 – 12/11/20
This is the finished scrimshaw with the foreground added. It’s mounted on a stand made from an unknown wood with a nameplate made from Mammoth ivory. 9ct gold pins hold the Orca to the base.
